Certified Introduction to Ergonomics Course

Ergonomics is the practice of designing workstations, work practices, and workflow to match workers’ capabilities.

Ergonomic design reduces risk factors known to contribute to occupational ergonomic injuries and illnesses, such as sprains, strains, and cumulative trauma disorders.

When work is performed in awkward postures or with excessive effort, fatigue and discomfort can occur.

Under these conditions, muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and blood vessels may be affected, leading to musculoskeletal injuries.

The purpose of this course is for participants to be able to:

  • Analyze and design workstations
  • Evaluate task-specific and company-wide ergonomic risk factors
  • Assist in the development and implementation of ergonomic programs
  • Prioritize ergonomic needs
