Falls are among the most common causes of serious work-related injuries and fatalities in the workplace.

Statistics show that falls to a lower level have been the most frequent type of fatal fall in the workplace, as small heights are often underestimated and mistakenly considered safe.

At BISON UP, we offer three types of working at heights courses, depending on the worker’s responsibilities in performing tasks that could cause serious injury or death in the event of a fall. Two of these courses include rescue training.

Course Content

Working at Heights Level 1 Course

This course is designed for workers and operators, providing them with the necessary knowledge of the techniques, practices, and equipment needed to stay safe while working at heights. Participants will learn to evaluate which different types of personal protective equipment (PPE) to use depending on their needs and how to use them correctly. This course combines theory and practice.

Level 2 Working at Heights Course (includes rescue)

Designed for supervisors or safety officers responsible for ensuring that all workers or operators maintain and adhere to best practices for working at heights. In addition to the information covered in the Level 1 Working at Heights course, this course also includes supervisory knowledge such as management systems, hazard and risk analysis, proper use of ladders and scaffolding, identification of anchor points, rescue techniques, and more. Level 3 Working at Heights Course (includes rescue)

This course is designed for supervisors, safety officers, and managers who will not only be responsible for ensuring that all workers or operators maintain and respect best practices for working at heights, but will also be able to pre-assess the work area and determine the complete logistics of working at heights. In addition to all the information covered in the Level 1 and 2 Working at Heights courses, this course will also provide specialized knowledge relevant to their responsibilities, such as developing a complete fall protection plan, a work at heights plan, a rescue and evacuation plan, evaluating structures for anchor points, and more.
